What your child will do
Two projects. Real skills. One fun evening.
In this hands-on beginner class your child will learn the basics of hand sewing — and put those skills to work right away on TWO projects they get to take home.
First — they'll perform "surgery" on a beloved stuffed animal in need of repair. Then — they'll personalize a canvas tote bag with their initial, felt decorations, and buttons.
Real skills. Real results. Real fun.
🧵 Here's What Happens in Class:
🐻 Stuffed Animal Surgery
Learn to thread a needle, tie a knot, mend a tear, and sew on a button — then put those skills to work fixing a stuffed animal that needs a little love.
Please bring a stuffed animal that needs mending if you have one! Don't have one? No problem — we'll have a few on hand.
👜 Personalize Your Tote Bag
Using the same hand-sewing skills — stitch your initial, add felt shapes and flowers, and sew on buttons to make a canvas tote bag that's completely and uniquely yours.
✨ Everything Included
🧵 All needles, thread, felt, buttons, and decorating supplies
👜 A blank canvas tote bag — yours to personalize and keep

Meet Your Instructor, Jodi
Hi, I’m Jodi — the heart behind Sweet Steps Creative.
For over 30 years, I’ve combined two things I deeply love: teaching and creating beautiful, meaningful experiences around the table.
I’ve taught in both school and college settings for more than a decade, guiding students in structured, hands-on learning environments. In addition to my teaching background, I’ve spent many years planning events and weddings, and professionally teaching Wilton cake decorating classes.
While I don’t claim to be a master cake artist, I have spent decades learning how to create lovely, delicious desserts for my family, catered events, and special celebrations. Through experience, I’ve learned that beautiful things don’t require perfection — they require patience, guidance, and the right steps.
I created Sweet Steps Creative because I believe some of life’s most important lessons happen through creating together. My goal is not to produce professional chefs, but to provide a supportive, organized space where students can follow a process, build confidence, and walk away proud of what they made.
With the right steps, anyone can create something beautiful.
At Sweet Steps, we believe that confidence isn't something you're born with—it’s something you build, one small, meaningful step at a time. By combining the structure of a classroom with the creativity of a bakery, we help kids move from "I can't do that" to "Look what I made!" Every sprinkle, every swirl of frosting, and every completed cake is a "Sweet Step" toward independence and pride.
